The White House Nursing & Dementia Care Home

The White House is a 32 bed Nursing Home providing residential and personal care for older people, as well as specialised nursing care and bespoke care for older people with dementia.

The White House is nestled within the Monkton Conservation Area of Monkton Village, along Monkton Lane.

The Home provides care for permanent residents and those requiring shorter, respite stays, and accepts residents funded both privately and by the local authority.

The home has a large dining room, as well as other more intimate dining areas, serviced by a fully equipped kitchen. There are large TV lounges, quiet lounges and even a retro-inspired music lounge.

All bedrooms at The White House are spacious, tastefully decorated with private ensuite facilities. Residents are welcome to bring personal possessions to dress their room as they prefer.

There is a large secure garden at the rear of the home, but for those residents not able to sit outside, we have decorated some of the internal aspects as gardens or woodland scenes to get the feeling of an outdoor space.

The Whitehouse Nursing Home are proud to reveal our grading of ‘Level 2’ has been upgraded to "Level 1" following the unannounced inspection at our beautiful home by South Tyneside Commissioning Team
They monitor, inspect and regulate services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety.
To achieve an overall grading of ‘Level 1’ is a fantastic achievement, and our Home Manager John Wright was thrilled with the result.
John commented that “We have a philosophy and commitment to promoting independence and choice for our residents at The Whitehouse Nursing Home. We support this with the highest quality care and ensure we consider the needs of every individual. The Whitehouse is a home-from-home with a difference, offering friendship, a stimulating lifestyle and engaging activities. I am incredibly proud of all my team for their consistent and high-quality of care in achieving this result from the Commissioning Team.”
Our report had plenty of positive comments from residents, staff and visitors. Here are a few of our favourites:
One resident commented to The Commissioning Team, “When I say this to you, I mean it, staff don’t just do the job, they do it from their heart and that makes me feel so good. They say to me they like to treat us like they would treat their own mother, you can’t get better than that can you.” Another person said, “They [the staff] are very kind, they treat me with dignity and respect. I have not come across a single one of them that hasn’t… nothing is too much trouble.”
Another person said, “Very well looked after they genuinely care, they respect mine and my husband’s privacy, and any guests we may have visit us. If we weren’t happy with the service we wouldn’t stay, everything is very good here. Our laundry is done, our rooms cleaned; top class care.”
When discussing living at The Whitehouse, one resident said, “My room is very good and my family helped me decorate, we moved the bed closer to the window and we brought some pieces of my furniture; the handyman helped me hang some photos and pictures so I am very happy with my living accommodation.” Another resident rated the food very highly, telling The Commissioning Team that, “I think the food is very good indeed, it’s well-presented.”
South Tyneside Commissioning Team also commented that people were supported and cared for by a well-trained staff team. The report noted that all new staff undertook a thorough induction programme at The Whitehouse, which was specifically tailored to their roles and experience. One care staff said in the report that “It was the best induction I have ever had, really thorough and all face to face.”
A big thank you and well done goes to everyone at The Whitehouse Nursing Home. Without you, this brilliant report wouldn’t be possible!

The atmosphere in the White House is always positive and friendly and management and staff update me everyday as to my wife's condition or any planned visits from doctors, social workers etc. I cannot thank them enough."
